Man, I can't believe it's been since December '13 since I've posted anything.
Where have I been? What have I been doing?
Well...I can say work has been a reason, but I can't honestly make that the reason. I'd say it's been a more lack of motivation. I haven't been true to myself. I've been denying myself my true desire and passion. What I have been put on this very earth to do. Shame on me. Shame, shame, damnit! I am embarrassed.
But, but, I can say that the past few weeks nothing has been on my mind but painting and creating. I wake up and go to work and the only thing I can think of is my current piece or what's next. There's not a greater feeling.
I get up, put on a pot of coffee, grab my apron from where I tossed it the day before, and pull it over my head, tying it behind my back. Searching for the right music to assist in my creative juices to flow throughout my body. From my head, down both arms and out of the end of my paintbrush. Cup after cup of coffee and hours of music have lead to multiple paintings and hundreds of ideas for future pieces and series. I'm so excited and want to start them all at once. I must write them all down before I forget every place my brain and ideas are travelling.
I must return to my work.
Music currently playing...
Eubie Blake - "Bandana Days"
Wow! Has it been forever or what?!? Yes it has. I have been so busy with work I haven't been able to make anything. Definitely feels good to be myself again. I was struggling there for a while.
I just finished "Lucky Strike" for an upcoming show in Muncie, IN @ Gallery 308, in February. I was asked by a former professor to participate and I gladly accepted the invitation. This piece didn't take me as long as I thought it would and I am very happy with it.
Now, hopefully, I can just jeep chugging away on more pieces.
So, I've finished "Thanks for the Priest," which means on to the next piece of the Burroughs series.
Man, It's been a long time since I've posted any news or a painting on here. I've been too busy to finish anything, which I do hate to admit. I should never be too busy for painting but I guess that's just how it goes sometimes. But I am back in the saddle again, getting my list of paintings ready for my new series on William Burroughs, "Old Bull Lee." After reading his biography, I realized how important and influential a figure he was and still is. I plan to bring to life his words and views for people who are or aren't familiar with his work. After seeing my pieces they will feel they have a better grasp on who he was and what his work was about.
Hey, hey, say it's MY birthday!!! Big ol' 27. I can say that this is the first birthday that I've had that I actually feel O.L.D.
Annnnd...there is another painting in the works.
Lemmy, yes THE Lemmy.
So, I had my show and it went well. Received great feedback and comments. Work was warmly accepted. It'll be up through March. Then onto bigger things with my pursuit to New American Paintings competition in April to be shown in their next catalog. Now, to just come up with a new series. Hmmm...
Just hung my show at The Parlor, and it looks awesome! Finally finished Captain Kangaroo and am glad that I did, he looks great. Now, time for the show Wednesday.
Working on Mr. David Carradine. Put Captain Kangaroo aside for the time being, just wasn't feeling it. I needed to work on something different and new. Don't worry Captain, I won't leave you unfinished.
